USATF is committed to mitigating health risks associated with COVID-19 at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships and the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships.  The COVID-19 protocols listed below are subject to update at any time, based on changing national and local metrics and local public health authority regulations.

• COVID-19 testing and/or proof of vaccination are not required for participants in the event (except Registered Medical Providers must be fully vaccinated). 
  • Participants are encouraged to follow CDC recommendations, which include self-testing within 24 hours prior to travel, wearing a face covering on airplanes and public transportation, and testing any time they experience symptoms of COVID-19. 
  • Participants should continually self-monitor symptoms and notify USATF medical personnel for assistance should they experience symptoms of COVID-19 while in Eugene.
• USATF will follow CDC guidelines on masking recommendations, based on the CDC COVID-19 Community Level for Lane County, Oregon [Link].  Levels are updated every Thursday evening, and the level for Lane County, Oregon on 6/9/22 was HIGH.
  • If the CDC COVID-19 Community Level is HIGH, masks will be required to be worn in indoor spaces affiliated with the USATF Outdoor Championships, including credentialing, team processing, and underneath the stadium (except for athletes engaged in warm-up). 
  • If the CDC COVID-19 Community Level is HIGH, it is recommended that all participants follow CDC recommendations and wear masks in indoor spaces (such as hotels and restaurants) while in the Eugene community and broader Lane County.
• All participants are encouraged to practice mitigating behaviors of virus transmission throughout the championships, including physical distancing (when possible) and frequent hand washing.

Key Dates

*Qualifying window for all events except the 10,000m Race Walk. The qualifying window for the 10,000m Race Walk opened on April 11, 2021.

The 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships will serve as the selection event for the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships to be held in Cali, Colombia, August 1-6, 2022.

For the U.S. Team to the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships, in each individual event, the two highest placing finishers at the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships who elect to compete will be named to the Team. In addition, for the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays, there will be up to three (3) additional athletes selected for each relay team among all place finishers at the 2022 USATF U20 Outdoor Championships. Athletes eligible for selection to the team per the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships selection procedures MUST complete Team Processing.
