Training

Training is critical to both the initial development of skills for new officials, and for the continuing education of current officials. Training is conducted in both clinic settings, and on-the-job during competitions.

Clinics

Clinics may be conducted for initial certification of new officials, for general refresher training for veteran officials, and for advanced training in specific disciplines. For initial training, a two-part clinic is recommended:

1. Classroom session – PowerPoint/video/speaker presentation and discussion
2. Practical session – training on specific disciplines, at venues on a track & field facility
