2021 World Athletics Indoor Championships - Nanjing, China (March 19 - 21)
2021 World Athletics Relays – Silesia, Poland (May 1 - 2)
2021 NACAC U23 Championships – Nassau, Bahamas TBC (July 9 - 11)
2021 Pan Am U20 Championships – Santiago, Chile (July 23 - 25)
During the 2020 USATF Annual Meeting, the High Performance Executive Committee will be selecting national team managerial staff for the above-referenced teams. Per USATF’s Operating Regulation 17, team managerial staff shall be nominated by the High Performance Executive Committee for submission to the CEO for screening and to the USATF Board of Directors for final approval. Individuals wishing to be considered for these national team staff positions should complete the online application no later than October 30, 2020. A link to the application can be found below. Applicants must meet specific criteria as indicated below to apply for national team staff positions. Please do not apply for a staff position for which you have not met all of the criteria. Such applications will not be considered.
The following descriptions are brief summaries of the duties of a Head Manager and an Event Manager. Additional responsibilities will be outlined in detail and provided to individuals selected to a team.
Head Managers communicate regularly with Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches, Event Managers and medical staff regarding pertinent competition information. Head Managers also work with the USATF National Office/Team Leader regarding overall team logistics (onsite transportation, competition procedures, etc.).
Event Managers will work closely with the Team Leader and Head Managers, assisting with the execution of team logistics as outlined above under the Head Manager’s duties.
The managerial staffs of the above-referenced teams (hereafter referred to as the “Non-Big 3” teams) will be selected from the applications received by USATF no later than October 30, 2020. To be considered for inclusion in the pool, all interested persons must submit an online application, regardless of the individual’s past experience or team assignments.
In order to be selected, applicants for any one of the 2020 Non-Big 3 managerial staffs must:
Submit a fully completed online application to USATF on or before October 30, 2020. Applicants who have submitted applications in previous years are eligible but must submit a new application to confirm their interest and provide current contact information. Applications must provide a full and accurate disclosure of any prior experience on USATF national teams. False representation of prior national staff experience will immediately disqualify an individual from consideration.
Be a current member in good standing with USATF, and remain a member in good standing for the duration of the period served.
Meet the requirements of the USATF SafeSport Compliance List for the duration of the period served, for which individuals must:
Possess a valid USATF membership.
Complete the applicable USATF background screen with NCSI (which includes acknowledgement of the USATF SafeSport Handbook and an agreement to abide by the respective code of conduct). Because the background screen can take up to two weeks to process, applicants who are not current members of the USATF SafeSport Compliance List should begin the process immediately so that they will be processed by October 30, 2020. (Should a nominee experience any event between the time the background screen is conducted and the relevant Non-Big 3 event that may change his/her background screen status, the nominee must inform USATF).
Have completed relevant SafeSport training within the last 365 days, as well as maintain current SafeSport training throughout the period served. SafeSport training can be completed in the applicant’s USATF Connect profile.
Possess a valid passport that does not expire until at least six (6) months after the conclusion of the competition for which they may be selected.
Be available for the entire duration of the event including additional days for any training camp(s) and travel.
Be able to withstand the physical rigors of traveling with and working with the team.
Be detail-oriented and logistically-minded with a service-oriented personality, committed to putting the athlete first.
Be willing to serve in a behind-the-scenes administrative position with limited or no opportunity to see the event.
