The following descriptions are brief summaries of the duties of a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach. Additional responsibilities will be outlined in detail and provided to individuals selected to a team.
The Head Coach will primarily communicate and liaise with the Head Manager, USATF national office staff/Team Leader, Relay Coach and Assistant Coaches regarding all team matters and will have general oversight of the Assistant Coaches.
Assistant Coaches will primarily liaise with the personal coaches of the athletes in their event group, assisting the athlete and the athlete’s personal coach with coordination of training logistics. If requested by the athlete, an Assistant Coach may assist with coaching. Additionally, Assistant Coaches will be tasked with ensuring that athletes in their event group are adequately prepared prior to and during competition by communicating any and all pertinent information.
The Head Coach and Assistant Coach staff for the above-named teams (hereafter referred to as the “Non-Big 3” teams) will be selected from the applications received by USATF no later than October 30, 2020. To be considered for inclusion in the pool, all interested persons must submit an online application, regardless of the individual’s past experience or team assignments.
In order to be selected, applicants for any one of the 2020 Non-Big 3 coaching staffs must:
Submit a fully completed online application to USATF on or before October 30, 2020. Applicants who have submitted applications in previous years are eligible but must submit a new application to confirm their interest and provide current contact information. Applications must provide a full and accurate disclosure of any prior experience on USATF national teams. False representation of prior national staff experience will immediately disqualify an individual from consideration.
