USATF Developmental Coach Program

The USATF Developmental Coach Program is designed for coaches who do not have an extensive background in the sport. The three-hour online training is perfect for entry-level coaches, volunteers, parents, and administrators. The course emphasizes developing positive coaching practices, ethics, risk management strategies, understanding growth and development, how to teach sports skills, and structure practice. The optional level provides a recognized education credential for the USATF Coaches Registry*.

Requirements

To register for the USATF Developmental Coach Program, you must:

• Be a current USATF member and at least 18 years of age.
• No prior coaching education or years of experience is required to register.

Initial Certificate Term

USATF Developmental Coach is valid for an initial term of two calendar years, expiring on December 31 of the second year. USATF Developmental Coach can only be renewed by completing the USATF Level 1 Bridge Course and becoming a USATF Level 1 Track & Field Coach prior to developmental coach certificate expiring.
