Instructor Training Course

The Instructor Training Course (ITC) is the pathway to becoming a USATF Level 1 Instructor. The new, hybrid course is led by an esteemed faculty of academic and USATF instructors. The lectures and activities include representations of Level 1 content, video presentations, demonstration of skills in various track and field events and how to effectively meet the needs of adult learners. Following the course, participants must satisfactorily mentor at a Level 1 School within 12 months to complete certificate requirements.

Requirements

• Should have completed two Level 2 event disciplines prior to applying or at least one USATF Level 3 or World Athletics Academy event discipline.
• Must have a minimum of eight years of full-time coaching experience at the interscholastic, collegiate, or elite club coaching level. Only coaching experience gained after the age of 21 will be considered. 
• Preferred previous classroom teaching and/or public speaking experience
• Preferred experience in a sports science discipline
• Must be a member of the USATF Coaches Registry

Application

ITC Schools may be offered in conjunction with a Level 2 School or stand alone and occur every other year. All application requirements stated above must be met prior to applying.
