LOS ANGELES — The road to the 2028 Olympic Games makes an early stop in Los Angeles next month as many of the world’s biggest track and field stars are coming to Southern California for the LA Grand Prix, June 13–14. Fans interested in attending can sign up for ticketing alerts here.
Meet organizers, USA Track & Field, announced today that 11 reigning Olympic and World Champions are slated to compete at the meet, which will take place at the Allyson Felix Track at the University of Southern California.
One of the marquee matchups of the weekend will come in the men’s 400m, where reigning Olympic champion Quincy Hall (USA) is set to square off against Olympic and World Champion Rai Benjamin (USA). Benjamin, who set the USC school record in the 400m hurdles in 2018, has shifted his focus to the flat 400m this season. Hall returns to competition after battling injuries throughout 2025, setting up a highly anticipated showdown between two of the world’s fastest quarter-milers.
While Benjamin leaves the hurdles behind for now –. Olympic gold medalist and American record holder Masai Russell (USA) headlines the women’s 100m hurdles after running a stunning 12.17 last season. She will face Tara Davis-Woodhall who is trying her hand at the hurdles this season. Davis will also compete in the long jump, the event in which she is the reigning world and Olympic champion.
On the men’s side, reigning World Champion Cordell Tinch (USA) enters the 110m hurdles as one of the fastest men in history, owning a personal best of 12.87 that ranks him fourth all-time among Americans.
Middle-distance fans will also have plenty to watch. Cole Hocker (USA), the 2024 Olympic champion in the 1500m and 2025 World champion in the 5000m, will test himself over 3000m in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, one of his biggest international rivals, 2026 World Indoor 1500m champion Josh Kerr (GBR), will drop down to contest the 800m.
The throws competitions will feature several of the sport’s most dominant athletes. Valerie Sion (neĆ© Allman) (USA), Olympic champion and reigning world number one in the discus, joins Olympic and World hammer champion Camryn Rogers (CAN), who also currently tops the global rankings. Three-time world champion and reigning World Indoor champion Chase Jackson (USA) leads the women’s shot put field.
In the men’s throws, Olympic and World hammer champion Ethan Katzberg (CAN) brings star power to Los Angeles as the world’s top-ranked thrower in his event.
Fresh off a thrilling gold medal performance in the men’s 4x400m relay at the World Relays earlier this month, Letsile Tebogo (BOT) will showcase his speed in the men’s 100m. The reigning Olympic 200m champion also owns a world silver medal in the 100m from the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
