INDIANAPOLIS – February 20, 2025 – USA Track & Field (USATF) has announced a strategic reorganization of its High Performance Department to centralize and further strengthen the organization’s medal attainment efforts on its path to the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The new structure aligns USATF’s High Performance Department with successful models used by professional sports organizations, ensuring a streamlined and effective execution of its High Performance Plan.
As part of the reorganization, Michael Nussa has been named General Manager of High Performance, while Wallace Spearmon Jr. will serve as General Manager of International Teams, Athletes, and Coaching Services. Together, Nussa and Spearmon will implement USATF’s High Performance Plan, building on the organization’s recent success in the Olympic quadrennium, including a historic 34-medal haul at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The co-GMs will report to Robert Chapman, who will serve as the Chief of High Performance Operations.
USATF CEO Max Siegel said: “As we work to sustain USATF’s competitive excellence and maximize podium performance on the world stage, we recognize the need to be strategic, innovative and creative. This new enhanced structure within our High Performance Department empowers Michael Nussa and Wallace Spearmon Jr. to execute our robust plan and support athletes in reaching their highest potential. The USOPC has put its faith in us to deliver at LA28, and this model helps ensure strong accountability and a centralized structure. Team USATF will deliver.”

With the track and field competition now leading off the LA28 Games, anticipation is growing and we are pleased to support Max and USATF’s vision for a strengthened High Performance structure that best position Team USA for sustained success.”
This reorganization reflects USATF’s continued commitment to innovation and excellence. By aligning with proven best practices from professional sports, the High Performance Department is position to enhance athlete support and optimize performance strategies.
