INDIANAPOLIS -- Setting a national high school record in the boys' 1000 meters, Cole Boone (Dublin, VA/USATF Virginia) earned recognition as the ninth USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2025.
Boone, a junior at Pulaski County High School, clocked 2:20.14 to win the Virginia Class 3 state title in Lynchburg, slicing two seconds off the previous national high school record of 2:22.28 that was set by Robby Andrews of Manalapan (New Jersey) High School in 2009.
Other top performances from last week:
Natosha Rogers ran a lifetime best of 2:23:51 at the Nagoya women's marathon to take 11 minutes off her previous PB. It was the second fastest time by an American woman this year.
Tavon Davis of Hinds Community College clocked 1:15.61 to win the men's 600 at the NJCAA (JUCO) indoor national championships. His time is the fourth fastest among collegians at all levels this season.
