INDIANAPOLIS — Running the fastest 100 ever by an American U20 athlete, Christian Miller (Ponte Vedra, FL/USATF Florida) earned recognition as the 15th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2024. Miller, a 17-year-old senior at Creekside High School in St. Johns, Florida, zipped to a world-leading 9.93 to win the men's 100 at the PURE Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont, beating a quality field and chopping .04 seconds off the ratified national U20 record set by Trayvon Bromell in 2014.His time also set a national high school record, taking down the 10.00 by Trentavis Friday in 2014. The winner of USATF U20 titles at 100 and 200 last year, Miller tied his PB coming into the meet with a 10.06 in heat four for the fastest time of all the prelims, and then steadily pulled away from the field in the final to win by a tenth of a second. His 9.93 moved him to No. 3 on the world U20 all-time performer list. Other top performances from last week:
