INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA — USA Track & Field (USATF) will kick off its 2022 USATF Journey to Gold Outdoor Tour with a new stop on April 9 in Bermuda, and another all-new event to round out the season on September 18 with the USATF Indianapolis Street Games. Track and field fans will enjoy 10 hours of LIVE network broadcasts (plus six on cable), including six hours from the Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships. Three World Athletics Continental Gold contests highlight April and June with the USATF Bermuda Games, the USATF Golden Games at the Mt. SAC Relays, and the USATF NYC Grand Prix, offering athletes the opportunity to obtain much-coveted World Athletics ranking points, an important component for World Rankings and entry into international championships events. Kicking off the season on April 9, in partnership with the Bermuda Tourism Authority and the Bermuda National Athletics Association, the USATF Bermuda Games will see some of the world’s greatest names in the sport compete at the Flora Duffy National Stadium. April and May will also feature six events live on USATF.tv including the USATF Combined Events Championships on May 6-7 from Fayetteville, Arkansas and the USATF 10,000m Championships on May 27 from Eugene, Oregon. Additionally, the USATF Distance Classic on May 19 and the USATF Throws Festival on May 21 are Continental Tour Silver Label events. USATF athletes will spend some quality time in Eugene, Oregon this summer. First, the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships will be held June 23-26 at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. The meet will serve as the qualifying event for the 2022 World Athletics Outdoor Championships also in Eugene, set for July 15-24, marking the first time that event is being contested on U.S. soil. Modeling events like the Street Games in Manchester, England, and in Boston, Massachusetts, team USATF will take to the streets of Indianapolis in a first-of-its-kind event in the Circle City. In a city known for the world’s largest single-day sporting event, athletes who compete on entirely different types of ovals will converge to contest events on the streets of downtown Indianapolis at the USATF Indianapolis Street Games on September 18. USATF’s expanded calendar of events for 2022 is all part of the Journey to Gold Tour, a robust indoor and outdoor tour that shines a spotlight globally on its athletes, brand, sport and culture. The Journey to Gold Tour also serves as the strategic roadmap to drive competitive excellence and increase engagement in the lead-up to the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games. More information on entries and events will be forthcoming and available on USATF.org.
