Dalilah Muhammad’s 400m hurdles world record ratified by World Athletics
World Athletics announced Thursday that the women’s 400m hurdles world record of 52.16, set by Olympic gold medalist
Dalilah Muhammad
in October 2019, has officially been ratified.
Muhammad’s astonishing performance at the 2019 IAAF World Championships Doha dipped under her own world record, as she had previously broken the 2003 record earlier in July at the 2019 Toyota USATF Indoor Championships, where she clocked 52.20 in rainy conditions.
Muhammad went on to win the 2019 USATF Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year and World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year. Her coach, Lawrence “Boogie” Johnson, also won the 2019 Nike Coach of the Year award.
