Zach Bitter (Phoenix, Arizona) broke the world 100-mile trail run record to earn USATF Athlete of the Week.
Bitter, 32, won the Tunnel Hill 100 at Vienna, Illinois, in 12:08:36, 24 minutes faster than the previous world record, set in 2010 by Sweden’s Jonas Buud. He also shattered the previous American record, slicing 36 minutes off the standard set by Ian Sharman in 2011. Bitter holds the AR for the track 100-miler, clocking 11:40:55 in 2015.

Kellyn Taylor—Taylor won the women’s Las Vegas Rock ’n’ Roll Half Marathon by more than two minutes in 70:13, a PR and the fifth-fastest time of the year by an American.
Wilkerson Given—Given was the men’s winner at the Las Vegas Rock ’n’ Roll Half Marathon, clocking 62:48 for a 2:06 margin of victory.
Emily Lipari — Lipari won the women’s Brooks Beasts Desert Throwdown road mile by one second with a 4:38.
Nick Hauger — Hauger won the NCAA West Regional cross country title in 29:42.4 to lead his Portland squad to the team trophy.
Cailie Logue — Logue ran away with the NCAA Midwest Regional women’s title by almost 10 seconds to lead Iowa State to the team trophy.
