Terry Hull Crawford, the 1988 Head Women’s Olympic Coach and member of 6 Hall of Fame, led the University of Tennessee Lady Vols to their first national title in any sport and later established the University of Texas as a women’s track & field powerhouse in the early years of the NCAA era. Her final coaching stint came as the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country at Cal Poly. In addition to coaching 16 Olympians and 140 All-Americans, Crawford has also served the sports of cross country and track & field in several national leadership roles. She has served as President of the Women’s College Cross Country Association and as President of the U.S. Track Coaches Association (1999-2001). Crawford served on the board of directors of USATF and as the coordinator of Olympic development for women’s middle distance running. She also served as the chairperson for the USATF Coaches Advisory Committee. In 2009, she was named USATF’s first Director of Coaching. Her duties include serving as liaison to coaches and the coaching community, oversee USATF’s Coaching Education program; develop a coaching certification program; oversee Team USA coaching staff selection and credentialing; and direct the track & field residence program at the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.
