World U20 Championships Team Processing

The 2024 USATF U20 Championships scheduled for June 12 – 13, 2024 in Eugene, Oregon will serve as the Selection Event for the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships. All athletes are required to complete the virtual Team Processing in order to be eligible for selection. Athletes who fail to complete team processing during the timeframes listed below will forfeit their rank for selection to the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships national team.

The 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships will take place August 27 – 31, 2024 in Lima, Peru.

Team Processing Quick Facts

• Athletes eligible for selection to the World U20 Championships team must place among the top 6 in their event at the Selection Event AND must have achieved the World Athletics qualifying standard by the conclusion of the Selection Event on June 13, 2024.
• USATF will reach out to eligible athletes as above during the week of July 8, 2024 to confirm acceptance of spot on the Team and to complete virtual Team Processing.
• Athletes who are contacted by USATF during the week of July 8, 2024 must be able to provide a valid passport that does not expire before February 28, 2025. Athletes not in possession of a valid passport are considered ineligible for selection to the World U20 Championships team.
• Information on dates of travel, housing and other team logistics will be provided during virtual Team Processing.
• USATF National Office is primarily responsible for athlete travel for the World U20 Championships. USATF will book the athlete's ticket and USATF will pay for a roundtrip ticket from the athlete's home city to Lima, Peru and back to the athlete's home city.

Personal Coaches

World Athletics may make available to Team USATF a limited number of credentials for personal coaches. Information including cost of the credential and access will be provided during virtual Team Processing, or shortly thereafter. In order for USATF to apply to World Athletics on behalf of a personal coach for credentialing, the personal coach MUST (a) be the coach of record for an athlete selected to a USATF National team and (b) be a member of the USATF Coaches Registry. The personal coach credential is not available for friends and family, unless they are the legitimate and substantiated personal coach of record. To be a member of the Coaches Registry, an individual must:

1. Be a current adult USATF member.
2. Pass the USATF background screen.
3. Successfully complete the U.S. Center for SafeSport Training course.
4. Accept and adhere to the SafeSport Handbook.
5. List current coaching affiliation on membership profile.
6. Fulfill Education Standard and submit verification application through USATF Connect.
