Team Blue Sky Events and the community of Danville CA are excited to host the 2024 USATF Masters 1 Mile Championships on Sunday, the 19th of May, in conjunction with the Devil Mountain Run/Mile of Truth. The 1-Mile course starts and finishes in downtown Danville; competitors will speed past cheering fans as the course runs two loops around downtown. The course is flat, fast and record eligible! The overall event records are 4:13 for men and 4:45 for women. The Men’s American 40-44 Record of 4:22 was set in 2018 on this course by Neville Davey. The first USATF waves go off, starting at 9:35 a.m. ET, with separate waves, tentatively, for Masters Men 40-59 and 60+ and for Masters Women. Championship awards and cash prizes will be awarded to top overall male and female finishers as well as in each 5-year age division. Awards and cash prizes will also go to the top teams and athletes with the highest age grade scores. Athletes can earn Elite Performance Medals, available only at USATF Masters National Championships, for achieving National Class age grade scores of 80% and above. The usual mid-May forecast is for sunny skies and 70 degrees; conditions should be ideal. Join competitors from across the country in this annual championship to determine the fastest Masters Milers in the country! There are numerous hotels within a mile of the race, some within a quarter mile. Check back for information on a host hotel or for a list of hotels and their contact information. After you carb up at the Finish Line Carb Zone, check out downtown Danville. Many restaurants, bars, brew pubs, and the like are within a few blocks of the host hotel and the race. Packet Pickup will be at Forward Motion Sports, located along the racecourse. Fly into Oakland International Airport, a hub for Southwest Airlines with 40 flights in and out of Oakland daily. It is also served by Alaska, Allegient, Contour, Delta, Frontier, and Hawaiian Airlines. Catch the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) at the airport, anytime between 4 am and midnight to get to Danville. One can also fly into San Francisco International Airport, but it is much further from the Race location in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay area. For those driving in from nearby locations, there is good parking for athletes just off the racecourse. One can also get to the race from other locations in the Bay Area via BART, the Bay Area Rapid Transit system.
