On-site accreditation will be on the second floor of the Albuquerque Convention Center in Ballroom C in the West Building during the following times:
Championship Credentials will be required for practice starting Thursday, February 15th. *High Jump availability may be limited due to location.
Step by step video instructions on the declaration process can be found here. Once properly entered, all athletes must complete the declaration process. In this process, you will:
Each athlete or his/her representative must declare whether that athlete will or will not compete in each event they have entered.
*Accepted – Athlete had not met the qualifying standard for an event. However, the Sport Committee will accept a non-qualified mark to fill the field only if there is an insufficient number of athletes entered who have met the qualifying standard for that event. In this case, the committee will go down the list of entered and declared athletes (that have not met the qualifying standard) only as deep as is needed to fill the field. *Note: USATF Rule 11.3(b) concerning adding athletes to make a competitive field, and USATF Rule 8 concerning automatic qualifications, will be used.
*Note: All entrants should declare during the declaration period. This helps the seeding committee make decisions on “Accepting” marks that do not meet the qualifying standard for the purpose of filling the field for each event.
*Note: The password that is tied to an athlete’s USATF membership is no longer valid to log in to complete an entry/registration or to log back in to update marks, affiliations, and credential information for an entry/registration. After the entry/registration is completed, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address on file under the athlete's USATF Connect profile. This email will contain the password to log back into the entry/registration to update (affiliations, credentials, marks). The password is located under the heading "Managing Your Registration." This email confirmation with password is only sent to the email address that’s on file under the athlete's USATF Connect profile. Even though the entry system gives you the option to send a receipt/confirmation to an alternate email address, the password will only be sent to the email address on file under the athlete's USATF Connect profile. AFFILIATION UPDATES MAY BE MADE UP UNTIL CLOSE OF ENTRIES: Monday, 2/12/24 at 11:59 p.m. PST
To update marks, please reach out to stats@usatf.org.
Only citizens of the United States who are eligible to represent the U.S. in all levels of international competition are eligible to compete in Championship events. Dual citizens, please take note.
All athletes must be 2024 members of USATF in good standing. USATF memberships may be purchased online or through your local Association Office. Athletes must be bona fide members of a 2024 USATF club in order to represent a club. An athlete's current club affiliation can be viewed in his/her USATF Connect profile and as part of the online entry process. Athletes wishing to change affiliations can make such a request through their local USATF Association (note that this request must be made by the athlete - see Regulation 7 in the USATF Governance Manual, Section III). All club affiliations must be finalized by close of declarations (Monday, February 12, 2024). No club changes will be accepted after this date for the USATF Indoor Championships. In addition to a club affiliation, athletes are able to represent one (1) corporate sponsor. This corporate sponsor must be a registered USATF Corporate Member and be part of the athlete's member profile. Corporate Membership applications can be obtained by sending an e-mail to membership@usatf.org. *Note: All sponsor affiliations must be finalized by close of declarations. No sponsor changes will be accepted after this date for the Indoor Championships. Athletes wishing to represent a branch of the Armed Forces of the United States must be registered with the membership committee of their local USATF Association.
Please bring passports to National Team Processing!* With the exception of the Combined Events, which will be selected by World Athletics invitation, the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships scheduled for February 16 – 17, 2024 will serve as the selection event for Open athletes for the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. All athletes are required to complete team processing in order to be eligible for selection to a 2024 USATF National Team. Athletes who fail to complete team processing during the timeframes listed below will forfeit their rank for selection to the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships national team. The 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships will take place March 1 – 3, 2024 in Glasgow, Scotland. Competition information, including selection procedures, for the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships can be found here. Athletes should bring the following to team processing:
*Athletes must have a current passport that does not expire before September 4, 2024. Reminder: Without exception, those not completing team processing will not be eligible for selection to the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships national team.
Athletes will be directed by a 2024 National Team staff member to the team processing area located in the Albuquerque Convention Center, Ruidoso Meeting Room, Albuquerque, NM 87102. Ruidoso is room 220 in the East Building. Athletes must report to the team processing area immediately after the final of their event.
Again, in the interest of completing the process as efficiently as possible, athletes should report immediately following the final of their event. The entire process is approximately 2 hours. NOTE: For planning purposes, athletes selected for the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships team should expect to receive and leave Albuquerque with their Team kit.
Athletes MUST bring passports to Team Processing The USATF National Office is primarily responsible for athlete travel for the World Indoor Championships team. Athletes will not travel as a Team to the World Indoor Championships. At Team Processing, USATF will book the athlete's ticket and USATF will pay for a roundtrip ticket from the athlete's home city to Glasgow, Scotland and back to the athlete's home city.
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will provide airport pick-up at the Albuquerque International Sunport for vaulting poles beginning Wednesday, February 14, 2024. In order to qualify for this service, athletes must complete the Pole Vault Pick Up Declaration Google Form by Monday, February 12, 2024. This form will contain the athletes’, or responsible parties’, arrival and departure information. The LOC will then also arrange for poles to be returned to the Albuquerque International Sunport for departure, if the athlete chooses. Any unclaimed poles will be the responsibility and cost of the athlete. Representatives from the LOC will pick up poles on a rotating schedule from the airport and convention center on the following days:
*Please allow up to 5 hours from your landing time for poles to arrive at the convention center. Alternate arrangements for pole transfer will need to be made by the athlete for the following reasons:
Instructions for using the Pole Vault Transfer Service:
An allocation of funds ($1,000) will be provided to the following athletes:
For these allocations, funds will be awarded to the top ranked athletes in the distances/disciplines being contested at the Championships and NOT FOR TIMES OR DISTANCES ACHIEVED IN ALTERNATE QUALIFYING DISTANCES/TIMES (i.e. rank in the 1500m, but not Mile). The only exception to this would be in the case of the allocation to the Defending Champion, who simply needs to be ENTERED, QUALIFIED, and DECLARED by the deadline in order to be allocated and, therefore, could use an alternate distance/time. In order to be eligible for the USATF Indoor Championships travel allocations, an athlete must be a current USATF member in good standing; must have entered and achieved qualifying mark between January 1, 2023 – February 11, 2024 (qualifying deadline); and must be a citizen of the United States of America who is eligible to represent the U.S. in international competition. Dual Citizens, please take note.
In addition to the payments as described above, an allocation of funds will be provided to those athletes who were not allocated funding prior to the USATF Indoor Championships but who place in the top three (3) in their event at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships.
An allocation of funds in the amount of $1,000 will be provided to athletes in each event who meet the funding criteria above. Athletes will only be eligible to receive travel funding if they are entered and declared by the respective deadlines. Athletes must compete in the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships to receive travel funding. Athletes who qualify for travel funding before the event will be approved for funding when they complete credentialing but must return the funds if they ultimately do not compete at the Championships.
Please be aware that travel funding payments will be reported to the IRS as reportable income and are subject to federal, state, and local income tax. Since no taxes are being withheld by USATF, you may have a tax liability at the time you file your tax return and you may want to consider setting aside some funds for this purpose. If the amount of reportable income including all stipends, prize money, etc. is $600 or more cumulative during a tax year, USATF will issue a 1099 NEC. Receipts for travel may qualify for deductions against this reported income. Please contact a tax advisor for further information. USATF is not offering tax advice, but recipients of USATF funding and benefits are advised to retain their own tax professionals to receive guidance regarding tax implications.
A Gold Medal, emblematic of the Championships of the United States of America, will be given to the winner of each Championship event, a Silver Medal to second place, and Bronze Medals to both third and fourth places. First place in each event should expect to participate in an awards ceremony after the conclusion of their event.
For the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships, USATF will pay prize money to the first through fifth place finishers in each Championship event. The prize structure is as follows:
Please be aware that prize money payments will be reported to the IRS as reportable income and are subject to federal, state, and local income tax. Since no taxes are being withheld by USATF, you may have a tax liability at the time you file your tax return and you may want to consider setting aside some funds for this purpose. Athletes competing in Finals of Championship Events may be asked to participate in formal athlete introductions. Time allocations will be accounted for with your final call time and warm-up time provided to you by the clerks. Final instructions for the introductions will be provided to you by an on-field coordinator. Athlete introductions will not disrupt warm-up times for athletes. For finals of all running races, athletes should expect to proceed from final call “race ready” as they are introduced to the track. From the introduction, sprints will have time to set blocks and distance races will receive the information from the head starter. For all field events, athletes will be formally introduced as a group prior to their field event warm-up time. At the completion of the warm-up time (typically ~5 mins before the event start time) athletes will be lined up at their event site and introduced in-stadium, competition will begin upon conclusion.
The throwing ring at the 2024 USATF Indoor Championships will be a UCS indoor throwing platform. The landing surface will be artificial turf.
The Warm-up room at the Albuquerque Convention Center will be located in Hall 2. The space now contains a newly developed sprint straight away consisting of 4 lanes, approximately 42” wide and 50 meters long, with a supplementary crash pad at the end. Additional hurdles and other equipment will be made available along with medical treatments in the space. The warm-up room is open during all scheduled practices and two-hours prior to competition each day. The warm-up area will remain open up to 30 minutes after the last scheduled event.
Coaches box passes are available to field event competitors. Passes will be made available at first call to all competing athletes in the event, only an athlete will be able to receive the pass and it is the athlete responsibility to provide his/her coach this pass. In order to access Coaches Box seating, a Coach must have a Registered Coach Credential as defined in the Accreditation Guidelines and a Coaches Box pass for an event currently being contested. If one or both of these items are missing, individuals may be asked to leave the designated seating.
Located next to the backstretch of the track. Implement inspection will open 3 hours before the first event and implement needs to be inspected 90 minutes before the event.
