The 2023 USATF Masters 10 Mile Championships, hosted by the Credit Union SACTOWN 10 Mile Run, will take place Sunday morning, April 2, 2023 in Sacramento, CA. Conducted by the Sacramento Running Association that offers the California International Marathon CIM, the SACTOWN 10 has been run since 2010 as a sister race of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run on the East Coast. Over the years they have raised nearly $2 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Sactown successfully hosted this race last year for the first time. Many swift runners from Southern California, the Pacific Northwest, and the Mountain West will again head to Sacramento to challenge the Northern California Masters Elite for supremacy. They will also defend the West Coast roads against some of the best Masters Long Distance Runners from across the country. Two American Records were broken last year. At Ten Miles, the race is perfect for 5-10 km specialists who want to add to their base, and Marathoners who are looking for a tune-up race for their spring Marathon. The course starts at the Capitol Mall between 6th and 7th streets. Athletes loop around the downtown area, circling Southside Park and the Old Sacramento Waterfront before crossing the Tower Bridge over the Sacramento River. They run a circuit on the far side of the river and finish with a straight shot up the Capitol Mall to finish across the Mall from the start. While you are here for the race, do not forget that Sacramento is the capital of California. Over 2 million people call the Sacramento Metropolitan area their home. Some of the best museums in the state are located here.
Take a walk through the gorgeous Capitol Park while you’re at the State Capitol.
The 28-acre Old Sacramento Waterfront is a must. The Gold Rush-era buildings have been beautifully restored; it has eateries, comedy clubs, & nightlife, with historic sites and museums. There are numerous Brew Pubs to enjoy in Old Sacramento and the Downtown and Midtown areas.
Sacramento sits at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers, making for a scenic view.
Hop on a bike trail, or jump on one for a run, at many different points, and cruise along the American River, or rent a bike in Old Sacramento and take it for an urban spin
Visit the California State Railroad Museum. The best in North America, it tells the story of the transcontinental railroad, the heyday of rail travel and more, with plenty of vintage train cars, engines and other interactive exhibits.
Visit the Crocker Art Museum. California impressionists, ancient art from across the world and one of the largest collections of European drawings in the world can all be seen in a museum that is partly housed in a beautifully maintained Victorian home.
If you want to extend your visit in Northern California, Napa Valley and its wineries are only 70 miles away, downtown San Francisco less than 90 miles, Lake Tahoe within 120, and Yosemite National Park within 180.
