Harris is married and has a son named Kobe. He also has to siblings, Physics and Chanel. He says he looks up to hurdlers Colin Jackson and Allen Johnson. Growing up, Aleex Harris loved basketball and football, but he did not begin competing in track until he was seventeen. He joined the team after his father encouraged him to join an extracurricular activity. Harris credits his father and the sport for putting his life onto the path he is on now. As his dedication to the sport increased, Harris set up a hurdle in his backyard to practice, and he only lost one regular season race during his first year in the sport. Despite a torn ACL in 2010 and a bruised ankle bone in his junior year of college, Harris has remained ever motivated to succeed. Now, he speaks to youth and uses his own story to encourage them to make healthy life choices.
