Jay Holder joined USA Track & Field in 2025 after serving as Executive Director of Running USA, where he led the organization representing the U.S. running industry.
At Running USA, Holder worked on membership initiatives and developed content focused on the running industry. Before joining Running USA, he served as Vice President of Marketing & Communications for Atlanta Track Club, where he worked across the organization's events, programs and communications efforts including the Peachtree Road Race, the World’s largest 10K road race. Holder has been a leader in media operations and communications for running and track and field events around the world. He was the deputy venue media manager for track and field at both the Tokyo and Paris Olympics as well as the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. He has also held media operations roles at the New York, Boston, Chicago, Houston and Berlin Marathons as well as the Falmouth Road Race.
Holder began his career in television news, working at WABC where he was the producer of Eyewitness News at 11, the most watched local newscast in the United States. He also served as a field producer for the station’s coverage of the New York City Marathon, The Oscars and breaking news stories across the country. Before New York City, he worked as a producer in Charlotte, NC and Syracuse, NY.
A lifelong runner, Holder competed in track and field and cross country at SUNY Oswego, where he earned a bachelor's degree in journalism. He has completed more than 20 marathons, including the Boston Marathon five times, and has twice completed the Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim traverse of the Grand Canyon. He is a member of the Howard County Striders Racing Team in Maryland.
Holder grew up in Newark, New York. At USATF, he oversees the organization's content and communications efforts, including storytelling around Team USATF, its athletes, events and programs.
Outside of work and running, Holder enjoys live music and cooking. He lives with his wife, Lauren, and their two children, Charles and Lucelia Rae.
