Amy Yoder Begley is a 2008 Olympian in the 10,000 meters and a former coach. She was a national champion at three distances: 3,000 meters indoors,10,000 meters and the road 15K.
A native of Kendallville, Indiana, Begley attended East Noble High School, where she was a four-time state champion and held the Indiana state record in the 3,200 meters from 1996 until 2011. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2001 as a two-time NCAA champion and 15-time All-American. She was named the 2000 SEC Female Athlete of the Year and won the Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female cross country runner that year.
Begley competed professionally with the Nike Oregon Project from 2007 through 2011. She qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team by placing third in the 10,000 meters at the Olympic Trials in Eugene and finished 26th at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
In 2009, Begley won the 10,000 meters at the USA Track & Field Championships and finished sixth at the World Championships in Berlin with a personal-best 31:13.78. She also won the USATF Indoor 3,000 meters and USA 15-kilometer championships that year.
Begley began her coaching career at the University of Connecticut in 2013 and became the first full-time coach in the 50-year history of Atlanta Track Club in 2014. She joined USATF in 2023 and has also founded and mentors Heartland Athletics Club. She is married to her former Arkansas teammate Andrew Begley, who coaches professional runners in the Indianapolis area.
