INDIANAPOLIS -- Shattering the men's collegiate records in the indoor 1500 and mile at Boston, Ethan Strand (Vestavia, AL/USATF Alabama) earned recognition as the fourth USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2025.
Strand, who set the collegiate record for 3000 meters in December, returned to the Boston University oval for the John Thomas Terrier Classic and chopped more than two seconds off the previous collegiate mile record with a stunning 3:48.32 that made him the No. 3 all-time world indoor performer and No. 2 all-time American.
En route, Strand went by 1500 meters in 3:33.41 to take more than a second off the previous collegiate record and move to No. 3 on the all-time U.S. indoor performer list. His mile time took more than six seconds off his previous personal best and also made him the fifth best American mile performer indoors or outdoors.
