Longtime USA Track & Field Board of Directors member and master official Kenneth Taylor died April 24 at his home in Alexandria, Virginia. He was 85. Taylor first served on the USATF Board as treasurer and finance chair from 2008-16, and recently was again selected as Board treasurer. He helped guide the organization through the complex financial waters of international athletics and gave oversight on the financial policies and operations of USATF. No stranger to the inner workings of the sport, Taylor was a USATF official for more than 30 years, rising to the level of Master Official, and he served as Treasurer for the National Officials Committee in 2007-8. He worked meets at all levels of the sport, including Olympic Trials and USATF championships. A veteran financial executive who formerly served as the Chief Financial Officer for the National Association for Equal Opportunity (NAFEO), an educational non-profit in Maryland, Taylor also served for 10 years as Manager of Audits and Quality Assurance in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). His career began on Wall Street, and he worked for Fortune 500 companies in accounting, auditing, and tax management. He ran his own company, Taylor Accounting & Tax Service, for more than 40 years. Taylor was a graduate from Rutgers University and Virginia State University and held an MBA from Long Island University. While at Virginia State he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
