INDIANAPOLIS — Running the fourth-fastest 10,000 in U.S. history, Grant Fisher (Park City, Utah/USATF Utah) earned recognition as the 10th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2024. Fisher, the American record holder, bided his time in the early stages of The TEN at San Juan Capistrano, California, before surging to the front in the last lap and coming away with the win in 26:52.04. His time is the fastest in the world in 2024 and has only been bettered on the U.S. all-time list by him and Galen Rupp. Coming through 2K in 5:25.41, Fisher set a solid pace to go sub-27, and he hit 4K in 10:49.34. Going by 6K in 16:14.88, he slowed marginally before picking it up again and cruising through 8K in 21:38.90. With a large group still in contention, Fisher covered the final two kilometers in 5:13.14 on his way to victory and a qualifying standard for the Paris Olympic Games.
