INDIANAPOLIS — Bettering his American record* on the way to winning a third straight USATF 10 Mile Championships, Hillary Bor (Colorado Springs, CO/USATF Colorado) earned recognition as the 13th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2024. Bor, a two-time Olympian and three times a World Championships qualifier for Team USATF in the 3000m steeplechase, led the field through 5K in 14:12 at the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler in the nation's capital, running in tandem with Andrew Colley, Biya Simbassa and Teshome Mekonen. Going past 10K in 28:35, Bor was a stride ahead of Mekonen and Simbassa, with Nathan Martin moving into contention. Martin put pressure on Bor over the next 5K and the two were clear of the field at 15K in 42:48, but it was defending champ Bor who had the fastest finishing kick, cranking up the pace in the final half mile to ease ahead of Martin and cross the finish line in 45:56. That shattered the 46:11 American record he set in winning the 2023 title, and Martin also bettered that mark with a 46:00 PB in second. Other top performances from last week:
