Here is our feature with USATF athlete Natalie Wood, a member of the USATF Minnesota Association. Why are you a member of USATF? I am a former athlete and a current high school track and field coach. I decided to go to the USATF Outdoor Championships in 2022. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My parents flew out to share the experience with me which made it a special experience. I joined USATF as soon as I returned home from my trip. What is your "why"? I love this sport and I am incredibly passionate about it. I was a competitor starting at the age of seven all the way to being an NCAA collegiate athlete. One of my current goals is to become a USATF Certified Official. What is something that helps you focus while you train? The desire to succeed. Besting my last performance. How has USATF impacted you? It has given me a community to belong to. Outside USATF how do you spend your time? I enjoy hiking, rollerblading, lifting weights, dogs, and mentoring my student-athletes. What is your favorite USATF memory? 2022 Outdoor Championships and watching the 2022 World Athletic Championships at Hayward Field. Is there an athlete or person who inspired you to join the sport? My mom saw my potential and got me involved in the sport at a young age. FloJo was one of the most popular USATF athletes during my youth and she will always be a legend in this sport.
