INDIANAPOLIS — Taking gold in the Long Trail race and leading Team USATF to the title at the World Mountain & Trail Running Championships, Adam Peterman (Missoula, Montana/USATF Montana) earned recognition as the 38th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2022. Peterman, who ran collegiately at Colorado and was the Pac-12 bronze medalist in the 3,000m steeplechase in 2016, covered the 78km course in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 7:15:53 to win by almost 13 minutes and help the U.S. to a big margin of victory over runners-up France and third-place Spain. In June Peterman won the Western States 100-miler, the oldest 100-mile race in the world, the latest in a streak of ultrarunning victories for the 27-year-old Montanan.
