SAN FRANCISCO, California — It was a cool rainy day in San Francisco, California, for the USATF Club Cross Country Championships. Runners from all corners of the country toed the line for a chance at individual and club National titles. Repeating last year’s success, the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project swept the men’s and women’s club titles with 62 and 29 points. In the Open Women’s 6km, Bethany Hasz (Boston Athletic Association) took her first USATF title, pulling away from Natosha Rogers (Hansons-Brooks Distance Project) for the win in 17:54 over Rogers’ 17:55. Andrea Rodenfels (Boston Athletic Association) rounded out the top three with an 18:02 finish. Rogers’ second place finish led the Hansons-Brooks Distance Project to a women’s victory. Teammate Amy Davis was the next to cross the line in 18:07 for fourth overall. Cole Hocker (Oregon Track Club A) took the individual title in the Open Men’s 10km, taking a decisive win in 26:28 over Tom Anderson’s (Club Northwest A) 26:33. Zachery Panning (Hansons-Brooks Distance Project) led his team to victory with third overall in 26:35. Alec Sandusky was the next from Hansons-Brooks Distance Project to cross the line, clocking a 27:00 finish. In the Masters Women’s 6km, Meriah Earle (San Diego Track Club A) overtook Maggie Shearer (Cal Coast Track Club A), running 22:15 over Shearer’s 22:35 to lead the San Diego Track Club “A” team to a narrow victory with 89 points over Garden State Track Club’s 92. Earle’s time took a comfortable win in the women’s 40-44 division over Megan Heuer’s (Club Northwest A) 22:36. Joannie Siegler (Golden Valley Harriers) took the age-graded win, clocking a 25:37 at 65 for a 92.84%. Additional age division winners in the Masters Women’s 6km: 45-49 Maggie Shearer, 22:35, 50-54 Chris Lundy, 23:19, 55-59, Fiona Bayly, 23:41, 60-64 Mary Cass, 25:36, 65-69 Joannie Siegler, 25:37, 70-74 Jeanette Groesz, 29:50, 75-79 Deborah Bliss, 40:03, 80-99 Edda Stickle, 43:59. 60-year-old Nat Larson (Greater Springfield Harriers) pulled out an impressive win in the Masters Men’s 8km with a 29:23.6, nearly 20 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor, Steve Schmidt (Ann Arbor TC A). John Van Danacker (TC Running Company A) ran 29:58.1 to lead his team to a dominant 38-point title over Club Northwest A’s 105 points and Cal Coast Track Club A’s 120. The age-graded win went to 67-year-old Jacob Nur (SRA Elite A) who ran 29:51 to grade at 92.24%. Additional age division winners in the Masters Men’s 8km: 65-69 Jacob Nur, 29:51, 70-74 Randall Margo, 33:12, 75-79 Gary Ostwald 38:28, 80-99 Lino Favela, 41:50. 41-year-old Sergio Reyes (Hoka Aggie Running Club A) earned the win in the Masters Men’s 10km with a 28:54.3 over Joshua McAdams’ (Boise State Betties & Billies A) 29:05. Jesse Davis (Indiana Elite Athletic Club A) ran 29:27 to lead his team to a club title with 54 points over West Valley Track Club A’s 81 points. 56-year-old Peter Hammer (Boston Athletic Association A) took the age-graded win, covering the 10km course in 32:08 to grade at 97.41%. Additional age division winners in the Masters Men’s 10km: 45-49 Peter Gilmore, 30:25, 50-54 Jaime Heilpern, 31:08, 55-59 Peter Hammer, 32:08.
