As a part of the USATF Week of Thanks campaign, we are spotlighting some of USATF's most dedicated members with a short feature (Humans of New York-style) on USATF.org and our social media accounts. Here is our first feature with Angie Jepsen, event director at Visit Albuquerque which has hosted numerous USATF events over the years. Angie Jepsen, 51, Albuquerque, New Mexico - Event Director with Visit Albuquerque “I began my journey with USATF in 2008 when my son started running for a local club and I became VP of the USATF New Mexico Association. As part of my VP duties, I helped coordinate hosting the USATF Indoor Championships and the Masters Indoor Championships as well as the youth JOXC. I quickly came to realize what a fantastic community this is... from getting to know athletes and the sportsmanship and dedication they embody, to officials and their love of the sport… and USATF became an integral part of my life!
I wish that people knew that although USATF is a part of my career, it is more importantly, a passion. I am most thankful for the friendships I have made through the years with my involvement in USATF and how it has enriched my life.
I have several wonderful and lasting memories but I was just thinking about my sweet friend (and Official) Bert Garcia (pictured below) that we lost recently and how grateful I am that I was able to be a part of his life. Seeing Bert's smile at every event he officiated and our playful banter was a huge blessing.”
