Elk Grove Village, USATF join forces in one-of-a-kind sports marketing partnership
Indianapolis -- Elk Grove Village and USA Track & Field (USATF) have entered into a one-of-a-kind sports marketing partnership. USATF and two other National Governing Bodies (NGB) were selected for a bold sponsorship program that will place the Village’s “Makers Wanted” brand on the world stage over the next year as Team USATF prepares for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
In what is believed to be the first time a municipality has sponsored a NGB, USATF will enable the Village to leverage the popularity of both the sport of track and field and the Olympic Games. This will increase its visibility on a world stage, with the goal of attracting world-class manufacturers and businesses to locate in Elk Grove Village.
“I want to thank everyone involved in the Elk Grove Village RFP process for voting for USATF to receive the gold level sponsorship commitments” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “The innovative RFP process allowed USATF to get to know a new organization and community in a unique way during a difficult time. Elk Grove Village is a community focused on building the American dream, just like we at USATF are focused on supporting the dreams of our athletes. We are grateful for the opportunity and are excited to be a part of this innovative partnership that will allow us to deliver value beyond the traditional sponsorship assets.”
“In Elk Grove Village, we’re home to an incredible community of makers and entrepreneurs who push their limits every day to reach their goals and achieve the American Dream,” said Elk Grove Mayor Craig Johnson. “As part of our Makers Wanted initiative, Elk Grove Village is proud to become the “Official Dream Maker” of USA Track & Field to help their athletes push their limits and achieve their American Dreams.”
As part of the $100,000 sponsorship, the Village will be featured in television ads aired during pre-Olympic events broadcasted on NBC/NBCSN over a six-month period. Elk Grove Village’s “Makers Wanted” branding will be included in signage at large-scale track and field competitions leading up to the Summer Games.
USATF will also involve Village officials in a three-part business-to-business speakers series targeting business leaders and USATF personalities to generate business leads.
USATF will host a RunJumpThrow community event in Elk Grove Village in the coming year that will be led by Olympic athletes and explore ways to involve current and legacy Olympic athletes in local community activities.
